Aluminum Alloy 2024 | UNS# A92024 is the most common aluminum that is heat treatable. This metal demonstrates high strength and is primarily used in fittings for aircraft, structural components like rivets, connectors, valve bodies for hydraulics, and similar applications. 2024 is strong compared to other Aluminum Alloys, shows average machining properties, and is susceptible to corrosion. Because of the lack of corrosion resistance, this metal is often cladded to protect against the elements.
