Stainless Steel Alloy 403 is a straight chromium stainless steel that demonstrates reasonable corrosion resistance, high mechanical characteristics, and offers heat resistance and a scaling temperature of about 1300°F. 304 is corrosion and heat resistant martensitic stainless steel that offers a wide range of mechanical properties obtainable by appropriate heat treating. Easily hardened by oil, fan or air cooling and can be tempered at temperatures at 1350°F (732°C) to improve fracture toughness.
